Echo Park lies northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, with Echo Park Lake as a recognizable centerpiece and residential streets extending into surrounding hills.
Living in Echo Park
Older bungalows, hillside houses, apartment buildings, and newer infill share the neighborhood. Slopes and parking arrangements differ from block to block.
Echo Park Lake and its walking paths are central landmarks; Sunset Boulevard provides a commercial corridor through the neighborhood.
Echo Park Lake, with its paddle boats and lotus beds, is the neighborhood's centerpiece. Sunset Boulevard holds cafés, music venues, and independent shops, and Dodger Stadium sits on the neighborhood's edge.
Getting around
Downtown Los Angeles is a short trip by car or bus, and the US-101 and SR-110 are nearby. Game days at Dodger Stadium bring heavier traffic to surrounding streets.
A closer look before you choose
Test the walk from home to errands and transit. Assess steep streets, parking, and event-day activity rather than assuming the whole neighborhood feels the same.
